Green Energy Blog: Google Search to Google Energy

Google Energy, a subsidiary of Google has just gained approval from the Federal Energy Regulation Commission (FERC) to buy and sell electricity. So Google is now a utility company too.

So Google Energy has the rights to sell energy at "market-based rates".

So Google can not only sell electricity but to also manage its own energy costs better. Google hasn't been shy in stating that it wants to become a "carbon-neutral" company. After they filed with the FERC, Google communicated its desire for "access to affordable renewable energy".

So Google crosses over from technology to energy. Next step for Google? Space missions perhaps?
