A bill to set up charging stations for electric cars along the state's toll highways cleared a Senate committee 3-2 this February.
With at least 10 all-electric and 10 hybrid models expected to come in the next 2 years, New Jersey is in need of charging stations.
The stations are key to cutting environmental pollution, increasing new electric car models sales, and reducing U.S. foreign-oil dependency.
The estimated cost will be around $6,000 per unit, and the state is trying to figure out from where to get funding. Charging stations are a necessity once that cars are launched, since the operate on batteries and those do run out.
If approved, transit would have a year to build the stations. Some of the propose locations include New Jersey Turnpike, the Garden State Parkway, and the Atlantic City Expressway.

$310 million plus 7,000 green collar jobs, that's what Utah can earn if it takes advantage of its renewable energy, the best renewable energy resource for Utah being, wind power.
Utah Clean Energy, a non-profit agency published "Clean Energy Economy" a report in which it mentioned that Utah's renewable energy potential is huge. It analyzed the impact of reducing electricity consumption by 20% and using renewable energy sources to make up the 20% need by 2020.
According to a renewable energy study completed by Utah's Department of Natural Resources, Utah has many prime locations which are ideal for wind energy development.
Since Utah has one of the fastest growing populations, if it implements the recommendations made by Utah Clean Energy, it can achieve carbon emission reduction while meeting its growing energy needs.

Green Energy Blog: Renewable Energy Fuel Cells from Bloom Energy

Check out the Bloom Energy Server, a new electrical fuel-cell which creates electrical energy by converting a mix of oxygen and fuel without combustion and with very low carbon emissions. Bloom Energy, the company that created this Energy Server says that "a single cell (one 100mm × 100mm metal alloy plate between two ceramic layers) generates 25 watts of Energy".
Bloom's Energy Server is a power generator which produces clean and affordable electricity on a customer's site. Fuel cells are devices which convert fuel into electricity through an electro-chemical process. This is cleaner than combustion and requires lower cost materials instead of precious metals of acids.
Bloom's Energy Servers are simple and easy to install with support from Bloom Energy. The company claims that these Energy Servers:
- Lower energy costs
- Save the environment
- Save money
If these are affordable as well as easy to install, we should be seeing a spate of Renewable Energy implementations across the world. Right??

Green Energy Blog: Introducing the Rose Wind Turbine

Wind Energy conjures up images of large windmills and devices that just don't seem too practical for small implementations. But wait till you see the Rose Wind Turbine, a small portable wind turbine that can fit into the trunk of your car. Yep, it's that small.
As the name may suggest, the Rose Wind Turbine was inspired by a rose. Unlike traditional wind turbines, the Rose Wind Turbine is being sold as one marketed as a "quiet" wind turbines.
So what can you do with the Rose Wind Turbine?
Well, it can become a source for your radio or television, or it can be a source to light up your outdoor lighting. You can take it on camping trips and beach outings.
Imran Lobania, the man behind the creation of the Rose Wind Turbine states on his site that the Rose Wind Turbine is best suited for urban environments and can be set up without any base or concrete holding it in place.
Sounds like a pretty cool invention to me. I can just imagine laying on the beach enjoying a football game on television powered by the Rose Wind Turbine.
Ain't technology grand???

Green Energy Blog: 10 Million Solar Panels in 10 Years?

Are we ready for solar rooftops? Senator Bernie Sanders has introduced legislation that will encourage the installation of these 10 million solar panels within the next 10 years on rooftops of homes and businesses
Sanders said a recent report shows that solar power could help make every state more energy independent if solar units were installed on available rooftop space, because every state can meet 10 percent or more of its electricity needs just through rooftop solar.
The proposed bill is called the "10 Million Solar Roofs and 10 Million Gallons of Solar Water Heating Act of 2010". The bill would authorize rebates to cover the cost of the installations.
Sanders states that by expanding solar power, the United States can minimize its dependence on foreign oil and can help the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions as well as create "Green Jobs".
Sanders is right. I also agree that solar power can help us all become more energy independent. The bill appears to be address an issue that we as a country face. I'd be curious to see how it evolves and how new jobs may be created as a result of it.
